A game of two halves!! A confident start from GSAL saw them race into an early 12-5 lead. They created an impressive 20 shots on goal, in comparison to the somewhat nervous start of the Portsmouth team, who had just 7 shooting opportunities. With a wealth of representative experience GSAL’s class continued to show in the second quarter and another 19 attempts on goal resulted in a further 15 goals. The half time score was a daunting 27-12. However, Portsmouth came back fighting. They lost the third quarter by just 5 goals, scoring 9 goals from their 12 attempts. GSAL rang the changes, making numerous substitutions, but still held their nerve. Despite Portsmouth taking the last quarter by 13 goals to 9, the 34 goals scored by the incredibly accurate Player of the Match, Louise Marsden, at GA, who’s shooting averages were an impressive 84%, saw Leeds take the victory by 50 goals to 34.
